Activists of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), a pro-Kannada organisation, protested at Freedom Park on Monday against the Governor’s office’s letter to the State Government over grading and not awarding marks for third language papers in SSLC exams.

KRV demanded that the Union Government immediately recall the Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot, who they said: “had acted in favour of Hindi imperialists”.

“The Governor has asked for a comprehensive review of the decision to only grade third language papers. Behind this letter lies the intention to permanently impose Hindi on Karnataka,” alleged T. A. Narayana Gowda, president, KRV.

“The Governor’s meddling in the day-to-day administration of the State is objectionable. The people of Karnataka have elected the State government, which decides what the people of the State want or do not want. In such a situation, as the head of the government, it is his duty to support its decisions and not intervene on behalf of Hindi,” he said.
