From viral sensation to wedding bells, Monalisa ties the knot in Kerala

Monalisa later told reporters that she was happy after the wedding and explained that the couple had chosen Kerala as the venue because they liked the state.
Monalisa Bhosle, the young woman who went viral during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela and came to be known as the “Kumbh Mela girl”, has married her partner Farman Khan in Kerala after approaching the police for assistance amid resistance from her family.
The couple tied the knot at the Nainar Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, bringing an end to days of tension surrounding their interfaith relationship.
Monalisa had earlier approached the Thampanoor police station in the Kerala capital, saying her family was not accepting her relationship and that her father was attempting to take her back to their hometown against her will.
COUPLE SOUGHT POLICE HELP BEFORE MARRIAGE
According to police officials, Monalisa and Farman arrived at the station along with members of a film crew with whom she was working in the state.
She told officers that she intended to stay with her partner and marry him despite objections from her family.
“She insisted that she won't go with her father and made it clear that she is going to marry her boyfriend. As she is a major, she can act according to her choice,” a police officer said.
Police said there was no requirement for intervention since both individuals are adults.
After discussions at the police station, Monalisa left with her boyfriend and members of the film crew. Her father later returned to his hometown.
MARRIAGE HELD IN THIRUVANANTHAPURAM
The couple went ahead with their plans and got married at the Nainar Temple in Thiruvananthapuram.
Several political leaders attended the ceremony, including V Sivankutty, M V Govindan, and A A Rahim.
Speaking at the venue, Rahim said the marriage reflected Kerala’s social harmony and pointed to the constitutional rights that allow individuals of different faiths to marry.
“The Constitution allows people from different religions to marry. We came here to join the couple in celebration,” he said.
‘SIX-MONTH LOVE STORY’
Monalisa later told reporters that she was happy after the wedding and explained that the couple had chosen Kerala as the venue because they liked the state.
Farman Khan also spoke about their relationship.
“Ours is a six-month love story, but it feels like sixty years. I am also an actor,” he said.
FROM VIRAL VIDEO TO NATIONAL ATTENTION
Monalisa first came into the spotlight during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where she was seen selling rudraksh garlands. A video of her captured by a content creator went viral on social media, turning her into an internet sensation.
The Indore-based woman later travelled to Kerala for a film shoot when the dispute with her family surfaced.
According to police, the couple had been staying in Poovar near Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the film project before the matter reached the police station.
Despite the initial family opposition and the tension surrounding their relationship, Monalisa and Farman went ahead with their wedding plans in the state.
