Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad on Saturday (July 5, 2025) said that a survey is underway to select suitable candidates for the upcoming Assembly election in Bihar.

He made the announcement during a meeting of the party’s national council held at Gyan Bhavan in Patna. At the gathering, Mr. Prasad was officially declared and re-elected the national president of the party unopposed for the 13th time.

“The candidates names will be finalised after consultation with Tejashwi Yadav who is working hard to strengthen the party at the grassroot level,” Mr. Prasad said.

Praising his son, the former Chief Minister further said, “I keep getting feedback about the party’s activities from him. Sometimes I don’t know when he is out of town and I come to know about his visits to various places the day he returns.”

Urging followers to work hard at the ground level, he asked them to ensure that his son becomes the Chief Minister of Bihar. Mr. Prasad also heaped praise on his wife Rabri Devi who was sitting next to him.

Many senior leaders of the party were present in the national council meeting, including State president Mangani Lal Mandal, Shivanand Tiwari and Sanjay Yadav.
