Latur cops secure release of 5 bulls after gaushala allegedly ignores court orders

According to the police, the case dates back to around Eid last month when some cow vigilantes stopped a vehicle transporting five bulls from Neknoor to Renapur, alleging that the animals were being taken for slaughter.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Latur police intervened to secure the release of five bulls belonging to two farmers after a gaushala in Parbhani allegedly refused to comply with orders issued by two courts directing that the animals be returned to their owners.The intervention brought relief to the farmers ahead of the ongoing sowing season, when bullocks are crucial for agricultural operations.Latur superintendent of police Amol Tambe said, “Despite there being orders from two courts, the gaushala refused to obey the orders. After the farmers reached out to us, we ensured the release. With the monsoon setting in, every day is crucial for farmers. No one is above the law, and court orders must be complied with.”According to the police, the case dates back to around Eid last month when some cow vigilantes stopped a vehicle transporting five bulls from Neknoor to Renapur, alleging that the animals were being taken for slaughter. Assistant inspector Ravindra Shinde, holding additional charge of the Renapur police station, said, “Five bulls belonging to farmers Baliram Bhalerao and Dinesh Katale, both residents of Renapur, were kept at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Gaushala at Ranisawargaon in Parbhani as part of the legal process.

After approaching the JMFC court in Renapur, the farmers obtained an order directing that the animals be returned upon payment of prescribed maintenance charges. When the gaushala allegedly failed to comply, the farmers moved the additional sessions court in Latur, which reiterated the order on July 1.Despite the fresh directive, the gaushala management allegedly sought additional maintenance charges and continued to withhold the animals.The farmers then approached SP Tambe, who directed Renapur police to enforce the court orders. Acting on his instructions, a police team accompanied the farmers to the gaushala on Wednesday and ensured the release of all five bulls.
