American tennis star Learner Tien left fans worried after sharing a hospital photo following his second-round defeat at Wimbledon 2026. The 20-year-old posted an image on Instagram showing himself connected to an IV drip while holding a McDonald’s burger just hours after his tough loss to Marton Fucsovics.Tien struggled with physical discomfort throughout the match and required medical attention before eventually losing in four sets. His social media update quickly went viral, with supporters hoping the young American was recovering well after a physically demanding contest at the All England Club.

Learner Tien’s Wimbledon journey came to an end after he lost 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 to Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics in the second round.
The match was played on Court 12 and lasted more than three hours. Although Tien fought hard, he appeared to struggle with his fitness for much of the contest.
The American youngster first caught attention during one of the changeovers when television cameras showed him eating pieces of bread from a loaf. As the match continued, he appeared to suffer from stomach pain and looked increasingly uncomfortable.After losing the third set, Tien was visibly exhausted. He dropped to his knees before slowly making his way off the court for a toilet break.
Despite his condition, he returned to continue the match and tried to battle through the pain.During the fourth set, while trailing 3-2, Tien called for medical assistance. The tournament physio treated him on court and appeared to stretch his knee in an effort to help him continue. However, the treatment could not change the outcome as Fucsovics remained in control and sealed victory by taking the fourth set 6-3.The experienced Hungarian celebrated emotionally after reaching the third round.
He briefly greeted Tien at the net before falling onto the grass in celebration and kissing his bicep after securing the win.A few hours after the match, Tien shared an Instagram story that immediately raised concerns among tennis fans. The picture showed him lying in a hospital bed with an IV drip attached to his arm. In one hand, he held a McDonald’s burger, while a large fast-food order sat on a table beside him.The meal reportedly included three double cheeseburgers, one Mayo Chicken burger, two 20-piece Chicken McNuggets boxes, large fries and a McFlurry.
The order was estimated to contain around 4,500 calories. Tien did not add any caption or explanation to the post, leaving fans to guess that he was recovering after dehydration and the physical demands of the match.Fucsovics will now face 22nd seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the third round as he continues his Wimbledon campaign.Although Tien’s Wimbledon run ended in disappointment, his determination to keep competing despite clear physical problems won praise from fans. His hospital update also suggested he was receiving proper treatment and focusing on recovering after one of the toughest matches of his young career.
