Liberate 2025 fest from Monday

‘Liberate 2025 - Festival of Knowledge, Technology and Society’ by Chintha Publishers will begin at the Jawahar Balabhavan here on Monday (August 25).

The festival which will be on till September 3 showcases lectures and panel discussions, an international book festival, competitions for students, technical expo and cultural events. CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan will inaugurate the event at 10.30 a.m. on Monday.

The festival is aimed at providing a comprehensive look at modern technology and the impact they have on the society, the organisers said, describing the event as a ‘‘fusion of technology, arts and intelligence.”

Themes for the panel discussions and lectures include ‘Ghost in the machine: technology and agency,’ ‘Self-reliance in technology,’ ‘Social life in the digital age,’ and ‘Education in the age of artificial intelligence.’ A number of workshops also have been planned as part of the ten-day event. Themes include calligraphy, building intelligent systems using Raspberry Pi and new media.

A ‘Baul musical nite’ featuring Santhi Priya will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday at the venue.
