Pradeep and Kapil Negi, who made headlines in July for marrying a woman named Sunita under the Jodidar tradition, are now mourning the death of their father, a loss that has brought grief to their family and the Shillai village community in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh.

The brothers shared the sad news on social media, posting a heartfelt tribute to their father alongside his photo. “Papa, life hasn’t been the same since you left. You were not just a father, but our strength, our support, and our world. Even today, in tough times, we draw courage from your memories. Without you, the house feels empty and our hearts incomplete. You taught us to live with honesty and truth, and to never lose courage, no matter the circumstances," they said.

“Papa, every word of yours guides us even today. Though you are gone, your blessings and prayers remain with us. I feel you watching over us, sharing in our joys and sorrows. You are in our heartbeat, in our breath, and always will be. We miss you, Papa," they added.

The brothers’ father had been battling cancer for a long time. The social media post attracted over a thousand comments, with many expressing their condolences and sorrow.

In July, Pradeep Negi and Kapil Negi made headlines nationwide when both married a woman named Sunita. One brother works in the Water Power Department, while the other is a chef abroad.

The practice, known as Jodidar Pratha, has existed for centuries in the Hati community and is also observed in the Giripar areas of Sirmaur and Uttarakhand, where cases of multiple brothers marrying the same woman have been recorded. Traditionally, this custom helps prevent the division of property and is linked to the Pandavas, who collectively married Draupadi.
