Live: Forged-signature row rocks Bengal; 2 TMC MLAs suspended, CID summons Abhishek again

Bengal signature forgery row: The forged-signature row in Bengal has escalated after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the case was registered based on complaints filed by two TMC legislators -- Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha. The complaint alleged that signatures on a document submitted by the TMC legislative party endorsing Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay as Leader of the Opposition were forged. After Suvendu's claims, both MLAs were expelled from the party. The controversy deepened further after Adhikari claimed that at least three other TMC MLAs had told the CID that the signatures attributed to them were not theirs. According to him, one legislator even stated that he was not present at the venue where the signatures were allegedly obtained. Meanwhile, the crisis within the TMC deepened further as the CID visited the residence of TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee for the second time in connection with the alleged forged-signature case.
