Scotland international Ben Doak has sealed a move to AFC Bournemouth in a deal worth up to £25 million, adding to Liverpool’s ongoing summer clear-out that has now generated more than £200m in player sales.
The 19-year-old winger, who arrived at Anfield from Celtic in 2022 for just £600,000, struggled to break into the first-team picture and featured only 10 times across all competitions. His switch to Bournemouth comes after an impressive loan spell at Middlesbrough last season, where his direct attacking style won plaudits and helped him secure six senior Scotland caps.
The BBC reported that Bournemouth will pay £20m upfront, with an additional £5m in performance-related bonuses.
“Perfect Fit," Says Doak
Doak expressed excitement at the move: “I feel like it’s the right time for me and a great opportunity to play regular football at the highest level. Bournemouth’s football is fast, attacking, and suits my game—it felt impossible to turn down."
Liverpool Exodus Continues
Doak joins a strikingly long list of departures from Anfield this summer—Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah, and Tyler Morton have all exited the Premier League champions in recent weeks.
The exodus has coincided with aggressive squad rebuilding under new boss Arne Slot, with nearly £300m spent already. High-profile arrivals include Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Giovanni Leoni.
Liverpool’s recruitment drive is far from over: sources indicate the champions have already had a £110m bid rejected for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, while advanced discussions are ongoing for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.
