West Bengal Election 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the 2026 West Bengal election will be “remembered forever" as the BJP scripted history to form the government for the first time since independence.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said that the BJP’s politics of good governance has “triumphed" and assured the people of Bengal that the new government will fulfil their dreams and aspirations.

He also expressed gratitude to the BJP workers and said the record win in West Bengal would not be possible without their efforts and struggles. “I salute them all. For years, they have worked hard on the ground, overcome all sorts of adversities and spoken about our development agenda. They are the strength of our Party," he said.

The BJP ended Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year reign in West Bengal. The BJP’s tally is now over 200 seats, while the Trinamool Congress was decimated to below 100 seats.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the architect of BJP’s Bengal victory, said that the people of West Bengal have taught such a lesson to the infiltrators and their sympathisers that the parties indulging in the politics of appeasement will never be able to forget.

“With the hopes and aspirations with which Bengal has expressed this trust in the leadership of Shri Modi ji, we will certainly fulfill them. BJP will work day and night to restore the lost glory of Bengal, the sacred land of great personalities like Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Swami Vivekananda, Kavi Guru Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and to realize the dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’," he wrote on X.
