Visakhapatnam: Parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh experienced light to moderate rainfall, and parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh are set for thunderstorms over the next three to four days as a well-marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to revive the southwest monsoon in parts of Andhra Pradesh.The well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha-West Bengal coast is expected to keep coastal Andhra Pradesh (CAP) under the influence of thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next three to four days, according to the IMD.Between Friday morning and Saturday morning, rainfall occurred at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and at one or two places over Rayalaseema.
Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district recorded the highest rainfall of 5 cm during the period, followed by 4 cm of rain in Sompeta (Srikakulam), 3 cm of rainfall each in Vararamachandrapur, Kunavaram and Chintur ( Alluri Sitarama Raju), Palasa and Mandasa (Srikakulam), Velairpad (Eluru), Bondapalle (Vizianagaram) and Bheemunipatnam (Visakhapatnam).The weathermen forecast that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

Farmers in parts of the state have been waiting for the wet spell to speed up the kharif sowing operations.As squally weather with wind speed 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, is likely to prevail along and off the Andhra Pradesh coast and Yanam, the fishermen are advised not to venture into the above sea areas for the next two to three days.
