Former Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday (June 20, 2026) said that dispensing with the Naan Mudhalvan scheme would hinder the progress of Tamil Nadu’s youth.

“During the five years of my government, I urged students to study, study, and study. I launched the Naan Mudhalvan scheme to help young people realise their dreams,” he said in a social media post.

Reacting to the State government’s decision to rename Naan Mudhalvan as Thiran Tamil Nadu and remove content related to the original scheme from social media platforms, Mr. Stalin said that changing the name would not diminish the gratitude of those who had benefited from it.

“Changing the name of a scheme will not erase the memories of its beneficiaries or the impact it had on their lives,” he said.
