French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday strongly condemned the November 9 Red Fort suicide blast in New Delhi and the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu & Kashmir, while reaffirming France’s support for India’s right to defend itself against terrorism.
In a joint statement released after talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both leaders expressed “unequivocal and strong" condemnation of terrorism and violent extremism in all forms, including cross-border attacks.
“The leaders reiterated their commitment to cooperate in the fight against terrorists and terrorist groups and their affiliates including those listed by the UN Security Council 1267 Sanctions Committee." the statement said.
They called on all countries to continue efforts to eliminate terrorist safe havens, disrupt terror networks, and cut off financing of terrorism, in line with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) guidelines. “Both countries reiterated their commitment to work together in UN, FATF and other multilateral platforms."
India expressed its support for France hosting the next No Money For Terror (NMFT) conference in Paris in May 2026.
Both leaders welcomed growing counter-terror cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the September 2025 counter-terrorism dialogue and the November 2025 Letter of Intent between India’s National Security Guard (NSG) and France’s Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale (GIGN).
The statement also appreciated mutual support for the MILIPOL security exhibitions held in 2025 and looked forward to the 2027 editions in New Delhi and Paris.
“The two leaders welcomed the outcomes of the counter-terrorism dialogue held in September 2025, reflecting the growing India-France counter-terrorism and intelligence cooperation," the statement added, reflecting the growing strategic and operational partnership between the two countries in tackling terrorism.
