A chilling incident has been reported from Khargone district in Madhya Pradesh, where a man allegedly murdered his wife and stayed with her body for two days with their young children present. The incident took place in a village located around 80 km from the district headquarters.
The accused, identified as 38-year-old Jagdish Dabar, lived with his 25-year-old second wife Reemabai and their two children, aged three and four. According to police, the couple frequently quarrelled over minor issues, and the accused often assaulted his wife.
On the night of the incident, a dispute reportedly broke out over food, which escalated violently. In a fit of rage, Jagdish allegedly attacked Reemabai with a wooden stick, repeatedly striking her. The assault was so brutal that she sustained severe injuries across her body and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.
Despite the killing, the accused did not inform the police. Instead, he allegedly continued to sleep on the same cot beside his wife’s body for two days, with their two young children present in the room.
The incident came to light after the accused’s father alerted the police. A team reached the spot, took custody of the body and arrested Jagdish.
Police said Jagdish had earlier left his first wife and four children and married Reemabai, who was his sister-in-law. His first wife had reportedly left him after the second marriage. The accused and Reemabai had two children together, who were present at the time of the incident.
Police officer Gehlot Semlia said the victim died due to severe injuries and excessive blood loss following the assault. The accused was produced before a local court and has been sent to jail. Further investigation is underway.
