Maharashtra TET Paper Leak Case: BSc, BCom, BA Holders Among Arrested Accused

Three people have been arrested in connection with the alleged Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case in Maharashtra, prompting the State Examination Council to postpone the June 28 examination to safeguard its integrity.

The investigation into the TET paper leak case revealed that the three accused arrested by the Thane Police in a trap operation are all highly educated.

According to details emerging from the probe, Rajeev Kumar holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree, Akash Kumar is a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) graduate, while the third accused, Dheeraj Kumar, has completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).

Police sources said Rajeev is involved in the business of land purchase and sale.

Meanwhile, Dheeraj had earlier appeared for the teacher recruitment examination for Kendriya Vidyalayas but failed to qualify, according to information received.

The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) deferred the examination after several questions from the actual paper were allegedly discovered in an unauthorised question paper recovered during a police raid in Bhiwandi.

A press release issued by the MSCE stated that confidential information was received early on June 27, indicating that certain individuals in Bhiwandi had examination-related material.

Acting on this input, the Bhiwandi Police carried out a raid at the suspected location.

“Early this morning (June 27), acting on confidential information, it was learned that certain individuals in Bhiwandi had information related to the question paper. Subsequently, the Bhiwandi Police raided the location in question. During the investigation, several questions from the actual examination were found in the unauthorised question paper held by them," the MSCE said.

Following the recovery, the council decided to postpone the examination to maintain its integrity.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said he would discuss with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis the possibility of invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the masterminds and those involved in the case.

He further said the investigation would be carried out in a thorough, impartial and strict manner. He added that no accused, regardless of position or involvement in any organised racket, would be spared, and the strictest action permissible under law would be taken against those found guilty.
