The Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavams at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri concluded on Tuesday, with traditional rituals performed in a spiritually charged atmosphere. As part of the concluding day ceremonies, the ‘Poornahuti’ ritual was performed at the old Yagashala amid Vedic chanting and devotional fervour.

Earlier in the day, special rituals began at 8 a.m. with ‘Mandapa Puja’ and ‘Moola Mantra Homam’ at the Yagashala, followed by ‘Harati’ and ‘Mantrapushpam’. The Poornahuti ceremony, one of the most significant events of the Brahmotsavams, was performed at 9.30 a.m..

Subsequently, the procession of Lord Malleswara Swamy proceeded along the steps to the banks of river Krishna. At Durga Ghat, the celestial ‘Vasanta Utsavam’ and the sacred ‘Avabhruta Snanam’ (Chakra Snanam) were performed in the river Krishna amid devotional fervour. The celebrations formally concluded with the Dhwajavarohanam (ceremonial lowering of the temple flag).

The ‘Vasanta Utsavam’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm, as temple officials, board members, and staff joined the devotees in the festivities. Under the guidance of chief priest Durgaprasad and Sthanacharya V. Sivaprasad, the rituals infused the atmosphere with spiritual energy.

With the chants of Lord Malleswara resonating along the Krishna riverbank and thousands of devotees participating in the festivities, temple authorities expressed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of this year’s Mahasivaratri celebrations.

Temple Sthanacharya V. Sivaprasad Sarma and deputy chief priest Kota Prasad, members of the Vedic committee and others took part in the Chakra Snanam rituals. The sacred ceremony was performed for universal well-being, and the fruits of the ‘Yajna’ were symbolically offered for the welfare of devotees and society.
