Main accused in Biharsharif shooting incident surrenders

The main suspect in the Sufinagar shooting, Bechu Miyan, has surrendered following intense police pursuit. The incident, which saw a man killed and his son injured, stemmed from a dispute over alleged drug and liquor sales. Police are actively searching for a second accused, while another individual involved in a separate murder case has been apprehended.

Biharsharif: The main accused in the Sufinagar shooting case, Bechu Miyan alias ‘Langda’, son of Md Ashique alias Channa Miya, surrendered before the court on Monday, Biharsharif Sadar SDPO Nurul Haque said.The surrender followed sustained police pressure, with continuous raids conducted across Nalanda and neighbouring Nawada district. Police teams had also been camping in Nawada to track him down. Authorities have submitted a petition seeking his remand for further interrogation.The case relates to a shooting incident that occurred on April 23 evening in Sufinagar locality under Biharsharif police station area.

According to police, Bechu Miyan and his associate allegedly opened fire on Mohammad Sohan and his son Mohammad Ali. The attack was reportedly triggered after the deceased had openly opposed the accused for allegedly selling liquor and smack in the locality.Both victims were taken to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital. Due to his critical condition, Mohammad Sohan was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital, where he later died during treatment.

Following his death, local residents staged a road blockade in Biharsharif to protest the delay in the arrest of the accused persons.Meanwhile, doctors at Biharsharif Sadar Hospital saved Mohammad Ali by removing a bullet lodged in his chest using the C-Arm technique for the first time at the facility. 211/26 on April 23, against Bechu Miyan and Mannu, both sons of Md Ashique alias Channa Miya and residents of Sufinagar. While Bechu has surrendered, police are continuing efforts to arrest the second accused, Mannu, who is still absconding.In a separate development, police arrested another accused, Shunti Kumar, from Noorsarai area in Nalanda late on Sunday evening. He, along with Gaurav Kumar, was allegedly involved in the murder of his friend Rahul Kumar, son of Manoj Kumar, on April 25 night in Sadarpur village under Bind police station limits. Rahul had been married just six days earlier, on April 20. Further probe into the case is underway, said police.
