Cameron White takes charge as San Francisco Unicorns head coach

Cameron White has been appointed as San Francisco Unicorns head coach

The San Francisco Unicorns on Monday announced the appointment of Cameron White as head coach, promoted from his previous role as assistant coach. The former batting all-rounder, who represented Australia in all three formats and captained the national team in both T20Is and ODIs, while also becoming the youngest Australian to captain his state, was part of the Unicorns’ setup during the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season.

In his role as assistant coach, White earned plaudits for his tactical acumen and commitment to developing domestic talent in training environments. He succeeds his countryman Shane Watson, who led the Unicorns through their first three seasons.

The decision to appoint from within the current coaching staff demonstrates the firm belief of co-owners Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan that the team has strong foundations in place.

That belief is reinforced by back-to-back playoff runs, achieved through smart domestic and international player acquisitions in recent years, as well as the elite off-field standards that White has been pivotal in establishing.Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. “As head coach, this will be very much an evolution rather than a revolution. I’m confident in the elite performance culture that has been cemented under Shane’s leadership, and in Anand and Venky’s ongoing commitment. What will change is my year-round input into team development and scouting activities, and I hope this more holistic, data-led approach will put us in a strong position to bring success to the Unicorns in the coming years.

Anand Rajaraman, co-owner of the San Francisco Unicorns, added: “The past couple of years have seen two playoff runs for the Unicorns, including one final appearance, and we strongly believe that our data-driven approach, executed by world-class cricketing expertise, is key to delivering consistent success in the Bay Area.
