The Malkajgiri Traffic Police booked 6,336 cases during a special drive against irregular and wrong parking conducted across the commissionerate.
Police said a total fine of ₹11.04 lakh was imposed on violators.
According to officials, action was taken against vehicles parked in no-parking zones, on main carriageways, near junctions, and at locations obstructing the smooth movement of traffic.
Police stated that several wrongly parked vehicles were causing inconvenience to commuters and emergency vehicles besides contributing to traffic congestion and road safety hazards.
During the drive, officials carried out penal action and removed vehicles that were obstructing vehicular movement.
The Malkajgiri Traffic Police said irregular parking on carriageways, footpaths, near bus stops, commercial establishments and junctions significantly reduces available road space and affects traffic flow.
Motorists were advised to use designated parking spaces and avoid obstructing vehicular and pedestrian movement.
Police said similar enforcement drives would continue regularly to improve road discipline and ensure smooth traffic movement across the commissionerate.
