Man asleep behind parked school bus in Mumbai dies after driver reverses vehicle

Police have registered a case of rash driving and negligence against the bus driver

Mumbai: A 43-year-old man asleep in the shadow of a parked school bus lost his life when the bus driver reversed the vehicle without checking. The incident occurred in Borivli East on June 8.

Kasturba Marg Police have registered a case of rash driving and negligence against the bus driver, identified as Ganpat Ghogal.The deceased, Dattaram Kapdule, was single and did odd jobs for a living.Around 12.30pm on June 8, he had his lunch and slept on the road in the shadow of a parked bus. The bus driver (Ghogal) got into the vehicle and put it into reverse gear without checking whether anybody was behind it. He ran over Kapdule, resulting in grievously injuring him. Kapdule was rushed to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali, where doctors pronounced him dead.His brother, Sunil, a farmer, was informed of the fatal crash by the police. Sunil told police officials he had often adviced his brother to move to their hometown in Ratnagiri, but he did not pay heed.
