Man booked for allegedly threatening PM on social media

Police have registered a case against a man identified as Mithun, a native of Chettippadi near Parappanangadi in Malappuram district, for allegedly threatening to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a video posted on social media.

According to police, Mithun is undergoing treatment for a mental illness and has been admitted to the Government Mental Health Centre, Kozhikode.

Police said they were collecting details of those who posted comments allegedly promoting religious hatred. Police said legal action would be initiated against them as part of the investigation.
