Man dies after falling into well

Berhampur: A 46-year-old man died after allegedly falling into a well on a temple premises at Adapada in Ganjam district’s Hinjili police station limits on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Purna Chandra Rout of the same village.

He was rescued by the villagers and rushed to the nearby hospital at Adapada, where the doctors declared him brought dead, police said. “We have started an investigation into his death,” said Sreenibash Sethy, IIC, Hinjili police station.Police said the deceased went to the well to fetch water when he slipped and into the well. The incident came to light when the temple priest saw him floating on the surface of the water. He intimated the villagers immediately, who later rescued him and rushed him to hospital, police said. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy, police added.
