A 37-year-old man ended his life at his residence in Chandanagar early on Saturday, hours after a domestic quarrel. The deceased was identified as P. Guruvaiah alias Anand, a labourer residing at Gopinagar. The incident came to light following a complaint by his wife P. Nagalakshmi.
Police said that at around 12.30 a.m. on Saturday (February 14), Guruvaiah had an argument with his brother Polaiah at their house. During the quarrel, Nagalakshmi dialled 100, following which police personnel reached the spot, intervened and pacified both parties.
However, at about 1 a.m., Guruvaiah, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, hanged himself. On noticing him, the family broke open the door and shifted him to the Government Hospital in Kondapur where the duty doctors declared him dead.
A case has been booked by the Chandanagar police and further investigation is underway.
