Tragedy struck Madhubani as a 32-year-old man, Jayram Mandal, was fatally shot in the mouth by criminals attempting to rob him of his bike. The brutal incident occurred in the Raghopur Balat area. Locals, enraged by the senseless violence, staged a four-hour road blockade, demanding justice and an end to crime.
Madhubani: Criminals shot dead a 32-year-old man on Tuesday morning when he resisted their attempt to rob him. The assailants fired the bullet directly into his mouth, leading to his death on the spot.The incident occurred in Raghopur Balat area under Rajnagar police station area. The deceased was identified as Jayram Mandal aka Jay Singh Sakshi, a resident of Samadhi Tola in Raghopur Balat.On Tuesday, Jayram was going to Madhubani for some work. About 2 km from his home, on the road leading to Sarwadih, criminals attempted to snatch his bike. When he resisted, the assailants shot him in the mouth. The bike key was still in the deceased’s hand at the time, said police.On getting the information, police reached the spot immediately and recovered a live cartridge and a spent bullet from the spot.SHO, Rajnagar, Chandra Kishore Tuddu, said the body was sent to sadar hospital for postmortem and search for the criminals is on. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also reached the spot.To protest the incident, locals blocked the Madhubani-Samia road (NH-27) for more than four hours, bringing vehicular traffic on the route to a complete halt. The SHO said after much persuasion, the roadblock was cleared.
