An Alamkhanpalle resident was stabbed to death by unidentified persons on the premises of Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa district early on Monday.
Police suspect that what started as a clash between children playing in the streets is believed to culminated in the stabbing of the deceased, Pedda Dastagiri. Following the clash between children, two groups of youth allegedly continued the matter by engaging in a verbal duel a couple of days ago during the Maremma Jatara. The issue initially seemed to have subsided, however, unidentified miscreants reportedly waited for Dastagiri, who was apparently involved in the clash, at RIMS at 3 a.m. and stabbed him several times, killing him on the spot.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke visited the spot later the same day and directed the Kadapa Taluk police to nab the culprits immediately.
Meanwhile, leaders of various political parties gathered at the mortuary on Monday morning and demanded action against the perpetrators. Left party leaders, on the other hand, accused the State government of having turned a blind eye to the ‘drug menace’ and called the murder a direct result of ‘police and administrative indifference’ towards the menace.
