Residents in Telangana’s Hanumakonda district were in for a shock after a woman and her two young daughters were found dead in a swimming pool operated by the family. The bodies were discovered on Thursday morning in Punnela village in Hanumakonda, triggering grief and suspicion among relatives and locals.

The deceased were identified as Farhat (26), who was pregnant with a third child, and her daughters, Umera (8) and Ayesha (6). The family ran a swimming pool facility near the Warangal–Khammam national highway, which served as their primary source of income.

According to the preliminary probe, the family had gone to the pool on Wednesday night as part of their routine. It was during this time that the woman and her children reportedly fell into the water.

Family members and nearby residents attempted to rescue them, but all three were declared dead. The bodies were later shifted to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination. Police personnel reached the scene soon after receiving information and began preliminary inquiries.

While Farhat’s husband, Mohammad Azharuddin, initially claimed that the deaths were the result of an accidental drowning, the narrative soon came under scrutiny.

Relatives of the deceased raised serious allegations, pointing to ongoing domestic disputes between the couple. According to Farhat’s father, Ali, tensions had been escalating in recent days over issues related to their children.

Ali has alleged foul play, accusing Azharuddin of murdering his daughter and grandchildren and attempting to pass it off as an accident.

Officials confirmed that a case has been filed, and all angles are being examined.

The incident has created a tense atmosphere in the village, with grieving relatives gathering at the victims’ residence. Police presence has been increased in the area to maintain order and prevent any escalation.

ALLEGED MURDERS OVER GIRL CHILD?

In a disturbing turn, investigators are now probing a possible motive linked to the accused’s alleged obsession with having a male child.

Initial findings suggest that the deaths may not have been accidental but part of a calculated act driven by the man's yearning for a boy child.

According to police sources, Azharuddin is suspected to have been under pressure due to his wife’s pregnancy, fearing that the unborn child might also be a girl.

Investigators are examining claims that he had previously coerced Farhat into terminating pregnancies on suspicion that the foetuses were female.

When Farhat reportedly refused to undergo another abortion, tensions between the couple are believed to have escalated.

Police suspect that this conflict may have played a crucial role in the alleged crime. It is being probed whether the family outing to the swimming pool was planned as a pretext to carry out the act.

Authorities have registered a murder case and are also looking into potential violations of laws related to illegal sex determination and forced abortions. Officials stated that further clarity will emerge after forensic reports and detailed questioning of the accused.

The case has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over deep-rooted gender bias, as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
