A 27-year-old man who went missing in the Manjra river on the outskirts of Hulsur (K) village in Kamalnagar taluk of Bidar district on Monday afternoon was found dead on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Umesh Anil Pokle, a resident of Halli village in Udgir taluk of Maharashtra.
According to the police, Umesh went to the riverbank to wash his hands and legs after finishing work on Monday afternoon when he accidentally slipped into the river and went missing.
On receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department, police officials, expert divers and residents launched a search operation.
Despite intensive efforts till Monday evening, he could not be traced.
However, the search resumed on Tuesday morning and the body was recovered from the riverbed.
The body was shifted to the Community Health Centre in Kamalnagar for post-mortem examination and later, handed over to the family members.
Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s mother, the Kamalnagar Police have registered a case.
