Man with criminal background shot dead in Siwan

Patna: Armed assailants shot dead a 40-year-old man with criminal background in Siwan district late Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Dinesh Kumar Yadav, alias Lali Yadav, a resident of Nayagaon under Chainpur police station area.The shooting triggered panic, forcing nearby markets to shut down. To protest the killing, the villagers and the victim’s family rushed to the scene and blocked the Siwan-Siswan road with his body.When superintendent of police (SP) Manoj Kumar Tiwari arrived at the place, he also faced the crowd’s anger. To control the situation, he called cops from six police stations and about 100 officers. The crowd refused to let the body be taken for a postmortem until 2am.

After much persuasion, the police pacified the protesters.The SP said many criminal cases, including that of murder, robbery and kidnapping, were registered against Lali, and the police are investigating the murder from all angles, including personal disputes. “The body has been sent to the district hospital for the postmortem. The police are probing the case,” he said.However, local people said Lali had left the world of crime for the last few year and was living a normal life.
