Mango festival from July 3-5

Lucknow: UP will showcase its mango diversity during the upcoming three-day mango festival in Lucknow. It will be held between July 3 and July 5 at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, with an objective to secure national and international recognition for the famous mango varieties of the state.An international buyer-seller meet will be organised at Jan Bhawan in Lucknow on July 4 as part of the festival.“Mango festival will provide a new direction to the state’s horticulture and agricultural economy,” said minister of state for horticulture, agricultural marketing, agricultural foreign trade and agricultural export, Dinesh Pratap Singh. He added that govt is continuously working to boost mango production, processing and exports in the state.Progressive orchardists, exporters, agricultural experts and entrepreneurs from across the country, including UP, will participate in the festival, Singh said. Besides, hundreds of unique and rare mango varieties will be showcased at the event, including Dussehri, Langra, Chausa, Amrapali, Rataul and Lucknow Safeda, apart from the coloured and rare varieties. Furthermore, mango-based processed products, value-addition techniques and export prospects will also be displayed.The competitions under various categories will also be held. UP is the biggest producer of mangoes.
