PM Modi’s five Nation diplomatic tour was marked not only by strategic agreements but also by a rich display of India’s cultural heritage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his five-nation tour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. During his tour, he presented a range of culturally significant gifts to the world leaders, highlighting India’s traditional crafts, agriculture diversity and musical heritage. Here’s a look at who received what.

Italy: While the packet of ‘Melody’ toffees gained attention, the Prime Minster also gifted Giorgia Meloni one Eri Silk Stole from Assam and Shirui Lily silk stole which took inspiration from the rare Shirui Lily found in Manipur. Italian President Sergio Mattarella received a marble inlay box along with CDs of classical legends such as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and MS Subbulakshmi. The box represents the Pietra Dura art of Agra’s craftsmen. The technique originally from Florence, also in Italy, was adopted by Indian craftsmen and is also used on the Taj Mahal. (Images: X)

UAE: PM Modi gifted President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed AI Nahyan a Rogan painting from Gujarat, along with Kesar Mangoes and Meghalaya Pineapples. (Images: X)

Norway: PM Modi presented handcrafted Indian masterpieces to Norway’s leadership. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre received delicate Sikkim orchid paintings, while Crown Prince Haakon was gifted a Kalamkari work featuring celestial motifs. For Queen Sonja, an intricate Odia Palm Leaf Pattachitra showcased India’s ancient artistry, highlighting the nation’s diverse craftsmanship on the global stage. (Images: X)

Sweden: PM Modi gifted Crown Princess Victoria, Crown Princess a copy of his book “Convenient Action: Continuity for Change.” Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson received a handcrafted Shantiniketan leather bag, works of Rabindranath Tagore, artisanal Loktak tea from Manipur and a traditional Ladakh Pashmina stole. Netherlands: King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands were honored with Jaipur’s iconic blue pottery and exquisite Meenakari and Kundan earrings. These treasures marked the second major inclusion of Rajasthani craftsmanship in the Prime Minister's diplomatic gift set, showcasing the desert state’s vibrant artistic legacy and timeless elegance to the Dutch royals. Expanding the cultural showcase at the India-Nordic Summit, PM Modi presented unique artifacts to the leaders of Finland, Iceland, and Denmark. Finnish PM Petteri Orpo received a vibrant Kamal Talai Pichwai painting from Rajasthan, while Icelandic PM Kristrún Frostadóttir was honored with a replica of Tenzing Norgay’s historic ice axe.
