East Central Railway's month-long 'Operation Samay Palan' saw thousands penalized for rule violations. Over a thousand faced fines for pulling alarm chains, disrupting train schedules. Additionally, 'Operation Mahila Suraksha' penalized nearly 3,600 for unauthorized travel in women's coaches, with Danapur division reporting the most offenses in both drives.
Patna: The East Central Railway (ECR) during a month-long drive last month penalised thousands of passengers for violating railway rulesUnder ‘Operation Samay Palan’, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) penalised 1,030 people under Section 141 of the RPF Act for illegally stopping trains by pulling alarm chains (ACP) at various locations falling under the ECR jurisdiction.
The month-long drive is aimed at ensuring punctual train operations and preventing inconvenience to passengers travelling in the reserved coaches, said ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra.Among the five divisions of ECR, Danapur division registered the highest number of cases with 496 followed by Samastipur 200, Sonepur 130, DDU 108 and Dhanbad 96, he said.In a parallel enforcement campaign, the RPF also conducted ‘Operation Mahila Suraksha’ to curb unauthorised travel in coaches reserved for women passengers. During the drive, 3,567 passengers were penalised for illegally travelling in designated women coaches. Here too, Danapur division topped the list with 1,797 cases followed by DDU 656, Samastipur 488, Sonepur 396 and Dhanbad 230, the CPRO said.
