Maoists from DKSZC set to surrender with largest-ever weapon dump in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: A large group of 108 Maoist cadres associated with the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) are set to join the mainstream along with the largest Naxal dump ever recovered, under the state’s “Puna Margem: Rehabilitation to Rejuvenation” campaign at Bastar divisional headquarters in Jagdalpur on Wednesday.Officials said the cadres who have decided to renounce violence and return to civil life had earlier provided key inputs that led security forces to uncover largest dump recovery in the history of anti-Naxal operations in India. The recoveries include arms, ammunition, explosives and other Maoist material from various locations across Bastar range, including Bijapur district.Security officials said the seized material from these operations will also be displayed during the surrender and rehabilitation programme in Jagdalpur.

The surrender and rehabilitation programme will be held at police coordination centre in Lalbagh, in the presence of state DGP, senior members of the tribal community, officers of the police and central security forces, and senior officials of the district administration. It’s a major development as Chhattisgarh eyes upon meeting the Centre’s deadline to eliminate Maoists. The “Puna Margem” initiative is aimed at encouraging Maoist cadres to abandon the insurgency and reintegrate into society through rehabilitation measures, livelihood support and social reintegration. The event is scheduled to begin post 2 pm.
