Union Minister of Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu has set a new target for the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and has asked them to complete the construction of the ₹350-crore second terminal at the Rajahmundry airport by March.
In December 2023, then Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia performed bhumi puja for the works of the second terminal, which will be able to accommodate 2,100 passengers during peak hours and support the landing of Boeing 375 and Airbus 321 aircraft. On February 7, Mr. Rammohan Naidu, accompanied by Rajanagaram MLA B. Balarama Krishna, Rajamahendravaram City MLA Adireddy Vasu, reviewed the progress of Terminal-2 and inspected the ongoing works. Mr. Rammohan Naidu later directed the AAI authorities to ready Terminal-2 for commissioning by March.
