Married Man Arrested For Allegedly Raping Woman On Pretext Of Marriage In Gurugram

The accused befriended the complainant via the Bumble app and despite being married, deceived her with a false promise of marriage.

A man has been arrested by Gurugram Police for allegedly raping a woman he met on Bumble after befriending her under the false pretext of marriage. The accused had reportedly misrepresented his marital status.

The woman filed a complaint at the DLF Phase-3 Police Station in Gurugram on April 19, stating that in January 2026, she had connected with a man named Saurabh through the Bumble app.

Subsequently, Saurabh gained her trust and, under the false pretext of marrying her, engaged in sexual relations with her on multiple occasions.

However, after some time, she discovered that Saurabh was already married— a fact he had consistently concealed from her.

The accused had defrauded her by promising marriage in order to establish a physical relationship. Based on this complaint, a case was registered under the relevant sections of the law at the DLF Phase-3 Police Station, Gurugram.

Acting on the matter, the police team from DLF Phase-3 Police Station, Gurugram, arrested the accused.

Saurabh is a native of Durgapur in Paschim Bardhaman district in West Bengal. He is currently residing in Gurugram.

The aforementioned accused works at a private company in Gurugram; he befriended the complainant via the Bumble app and, despite being married, deceived her with a false promise of marriage to engage in sexual relations with her.

Further legal proceedings regarding the case will be conducted in accordance with the law. The matter is currently under investigation.
