Max Verstappen has once again confirmed that he did meet Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, but insists he was never stressed about his future at Red Bull. The reigning F1 world champion has been dealing with his car’s underperformance this season, sparking rumors that he might be considering a move elsewhere.

The 27-year-old is currently competing in his home race, the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort in the Netherlands.

Max Verstappen on his future plans

Rumors suggested Max Verstappen was in talks with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, who was reportedly interested in luring the Red Bull star for the next F1 season. Addressing these speculations, Verstappen told ESPN, "I think in general, I'm a person that is always quite relaxed about it. Like I don't stress out or I'm really like, I go to bed and I'm massively overthinking stuff.

I just live my life, you know, see what happens next.

He added that he has everything “under control,” despite rumors suggesting otherwise.

Max Verstappen has secured only two wins this season — at the Japanese Grand Prix and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, along with three additional podium finishes. He currently sits third in the F1 Drivers’ Standings. During the summer break, he was photographed meeting Wolff on his yacht, fueling speculation.

Confirming the meeting, Verstappen said, "I even went for lunch with Toto and the family and, I mean, I think that's absolutely allowed. It's not even that you speak about Formula 1 business, it's just life. We parked up next to each other because we were in the same bay to sleep and during the day everyone does their thing.”He stressed that rivals can maintain a “good relationship,” noting that not everything is “about competition.”

What Max Verstappen has been up to

The three-week summer break saw Max Verstappen spending time with his girlfriend Kelly Piquet, their infant daughter Lily, and her elder daughter Penelope. He also spent time with his father Jos Verstappen as well as Toto Wolff.

Ahead of his home race, Verstappen shared a video expressing his excitement, "It's always fantastic to see the fan support. You know, for such a small country to still have so many fans. Them also traveling all over the world is really, really nice. You know, my home Grand Prix, seeing them all day on the grandstands for me. Every time I drive out, you know, it kind of gives you goosebumps. Positive energy, I would say. There's no more pressure for me, but it's just positive energy and you try to use that in the best way possible.
