An Uttar Pradesh interfaith couple’s wedding has been facing opposition from right-wing Hindu groups in the city. The woman, Akanksha, is all set to tie the knot with her long-term boyfriend, Sahil, also known as Shehwaz Rana, in Meerut later this week. But threats from right-wing groups have created an atmosphere of fear for both families.
The news comes as Sachin Sirohi, the National President of the All India Hindu Security Organisation, said that he would follow the couple across the country and ‘chase them’, if needed.
According to posts circulating on social media, the Uttar Pradesh police have now registered a case against Sahil under sections of the Unlawful Religious Conversion Act. News18 could not independently verify the authenticity of the post.
