Shillong: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday felicitated 41 students, who had successfully completed their Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination 2026, from different childcare institutions in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills region of the state.After rewarding them with cash awards, the chief minister announced that the higher secondary education of the students from the child care institutions would be supported by the chief minister’s secretariat.On Friday, the chief minister had felicitated 41 SSLC (Class-X) toppers from regular educational institutions. The SSLC examination is conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education.“Since yesterday, we have been felicitating achievers, young or old, and today we here again to celebrate your success, courage and hard work,” the chief minister told the students during the felicitation programme organised by the state social welfare department on Saturday.Commending the spirit of the children who have been placed in various child care institutions, the chief minister observed that it’s not the “easy things and situations” that determine success.“Today all of you have proven that you are worthy of being here and that you have risen above the challenges and difficulties that you have faced,” Conrad told the students and urged them to continue to work hard with determination and perseverance.
