Merit Day celebrations held at Fatima Mata National College

Academy award winner Resul Pookutty has said that the true essence of education lies in empowering individuals to question, analyse, and critique.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Merit Day celebrations at Fatima Mata National College on Friday (February 13, 2026), Mr. Pookutty noted that these qualities were the hallmark of the ancient Indian (Arshabharata) educational system. He further observed that through the study of language, we are essentially reclaiming our rich cultural heritage. He called for the nurturing of a young generation characterised by integrity and the courage to respond to social realities. College Principal Cynthia Catherine Michael presided over the function and renowned architect Eugene Pandala spoke on the occasion. The event saw the distribution of certificates, cash awards, and trophies to students who secured top honours in various undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes and who excelled in various arts and sports competitions.
