MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur has said that the children of journalists should come to the mainstream by using the facilities made available to them.

He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the District Level Pratibha Puraskar event at the Patrika Bhavan in Yadgir on Monday.

Mr. Tunnur said that journalists should have to play a crucial role in providing education to their children by extending facilities to them and children also should come to the mainstream using such facilities.

The district unit of the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists offered felicitations to meritorious SSLC children of journalists with a cash prize of ₹5,000 each. It also felicitated four journalists who bagged the State-level award for best reporting.

District unit president of KUWJ Mallappa Sankin appealed to students to study hard with a goal and achieve it.

Rishika, Varun, Muthuraj, Bhargav, Ikra, Saisujala, Sangeetha, Harshit and Yashoda were felicitated for their remarkable achievement, while T. Nagendra, Amaresh Hiremath, Mallayya Polampalli and Basavaraj Kattimani, who bagged awards, were also felicitated.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tunnur gave away ₹2,000 to each meritorious student on his own.

BJP youth wing district president Sridhar, office-bearers Sagar Desai, Siddappa Lingeri, Rajkumar Nallikar and others were present.
