New Delhi: Meta has recently reported they are experimenting with its own standalone application for its Vibes feed. Vibes will let users create and share AI-generated short videos inside the Meta AI application, along with the browsing feed made up entirely of the AI-created content. The feed resembles TikTok or Instagram Reels, but instead of the users-recorded clips, every video is created or remixed using Meta’s AI tools.
Vibes has so far been available only inside the Meta AI application. Meta is now exploring whether the latest feature can work as an independent application. The move would be likely to put Vibes in more direct competition with OpenAI’s Sora, which provides AI video creation and a social feed focused on AI-generated videos.
This latest Meta decision follows the early usage of the trends seen within the Meta AI application. The company has also stated it has seen growing interest in AI-generated video creation and sharing, and that a separate application could be provided to focus more on this type of content for users. Meta yet to share any exact usage of the number, but noted that the engagement with the Meta AI has grown since the launch of its application. Vibes will enable users to generate videos from scratch or remix existing videos with the AI-generated videos found in their feed.
Before posting anything, users can edit visuals, add music, and adjust styles. Finished videos can be shared directly on the Vibes feed, sent to others through direct messages, or cross-posted to the Instagram and Facebook Stories and Reels. With the AI-generated videos being sent directly to their friends, similar to how users interact with the Instagram Reels. These subscription tests are expected to roll out in the coming months.
