The centrepiece of the special, the official match ball named Trionda, pays tribute to the three host nations. Trionda means ‘three waves’ and stands out as one of the most distinctive and innovative design elements of the spectacle.

It marks the first time three host countries unite in an ambitious effort to stage the showpiece, with the ball’s panels joining to form a triangle at its centre, symbolising the historic union of the three nations.

The ball also features iconography representing each host country: an eagle for Mexico, a maple leaf for Canada, and a star for the United States, while gold embellishments honour the glittering trophy.

The global showpiece heads to the USA, Mexico and Canada as North America stages the most ambitious edition yet of the quadrennial spectacle.

For the first time, 48 teams will battle for the glittering trophy in the finals. The tournament will also feature a staggering 104 matches, the highest number of games in the competition’s history.

The teams have been drawn into 12 groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing directly to the knockout phase. In addition, eight more sides will have the opportunity to progress as the best third-placed teams across the groups.

The game will mark the first-ever 48-side competition for the showpiece, as the tournament has been expanded to over a century of games.
