Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has declined to be drawn into the controversy surrounding co-owner Jim Ratcliffe.

Instead, he doubled down on the club’s long-standing commitment to equality and respect.

‘Equality, Diversity and Respect’

Ratcliffe recently apologised after saying Britain had been “colonised by immigrants," a remark that triggered debate well beyond football.

Rather than wade into politics, Carrick pointed to United’s identity as a global institution.

“What I can say is that I have been around this club for many years, and we always make a huge impact globally, and we are really responsible for that," he said.

Drawing on his long association with Old Trafford — as a player, coach and supporter — Carrick emphasised the culture inside the club.

“We are really proud of the environment and culture we’ve got at the club. Equality, diversity and respect for each other are something we look to carry through every day.

“I have travelled the world and know what this club means to an awful lot of people. I am fully aware of the responsibility… I am proud of what the club stands for and has done for so long."

Squad Unity Intact

Asked whether Ratcliffe’s comments had affected morale in United’s internationally diverse dressing room, Carrick insisted the atmosphere remains positive.

“We have a really strong group, whether that is the players or the staff. We are in constant communication anyway. We are here to support each other and help each other in whatever way we can," he said.

“The boys have been in good spirits this week… We are looking forward to the next game."

United sit fourth in the table with 45 points from 26 matches.
