Midnight road accident case: Maniyanpilla Raju arrested, released on bail hours later

Kerala’s film world woke up to worrying news after a late-night road accident in Thiruvananthapuram involving veteran Malayalam actor-producer Maniyanpilla Raju. Two youngsters were seriously injured in the incident as their two-wheelers were hit by Maniyanpillai Raju’s car at a busy intersection.

Reports suggest that police were informed, and court proceedings were initiated immediately.

Accordingly, late at night police revealed that the name of the man arrested in connection with the accident was Maniyanpillai Raju and that it was an accident involving him. He was produced before the magistrates' court and managed to get bail.

Late-night crash leaves two youths seriously injured

As reported by Latestly, the accident took place around 9:30 pm on February 5 in front of the Trivandrum Club at Vazhuthacaud.

Police report that Honda Accord driver Maniyanpillai Raju hit a two-wheeler with two youngsters. The youngsters were Sooraj from Sreekanteswaram and Nidev from Sreevaraham. They suffered multiple injuries. Sooraj had left leg and shoulder injuries, and Nidev had neck and leg injuries. The public rushed them to the hospital.

They were critically injured while they were being brought to the hospital but are stable now.

Police action, FIR, medical test, and legal process

The Museum Police lodged a case under the relevant sections of the BNS and MV Act. As said by officials, Maniyanpilla Raju was driving when the mishap happened. The police added that he halted at the place of the accident immediately after the crash. Police arrested Maniyanpilla Raju in spite of preliminary inquiries and a probe. He underwent treatment at Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital as per law. After treatment was done, he was released by the police.
