Milo Ventimiglia, best known for his acclaimed role in the television series 'This Is Us', has announced the arrival of his second child with wife Jarah Mariano. The 48-year-old actor and his model wife, 42, revealed they had welcomed a son in a sweet Instagram post showing the new family with their two children and their dog.Mariano shared the joyful news with her followers, capturing the emotions surrounding the new arrival. "These last couple of weeks have been chaos, but in the best possible way. Welcome back home Rock-Anthony Makoa Ventimiglia. Can't wait for all of the adventures ahead with our family of 5!" she wrote in her Instagram caption.
The couple announced the pregnancy in January of this year. The timing of this arrival comes exactly one year after the family experienced a devastating loss when they lost their Los Angeles home in the deadly
wildfires
that swept through Southern California.
First child born during period of loss and resilience
The couple are already parents to daughter Ke'ala Coral, who was born in January 2025 — just two weeks after Ventimiglia and Mariano lost their Los Angeles home in the devastating wildfires. The timing of the first child's arrival in the midst of their family's displacement highlighted their resilience during an extraordinarily challenging period. When announcing the birth of their first daughter, Mariano uploaded a photo to Instagram showing their newborn's tiny feet alongside their dog's small paw. In her moving caption, she wrote: "Houseless, never homeless Welcome back Ke'ala Coral Ventimiglia 1.23.25."Mariano detailed the circumstances surrounding the evacuation and loss. "Jan 7th my family & I evacuated from the Palisades Fire. We lost our home that we were living in & everything we own, as well as our home under construction that we were about to move into," she explained.
The expectant mother described the additional stress of her pregnancy during the period of displacement. "I was 38 weeks pregnant and done an evacuation only a few weeks prior during the Franklin Fire as well," she noted in her post. Despite the trauma of the situation, Mariano found perspective in the experience. "I take it as a gift that I was able to essentially do a practice run for what was inevitably to come," she reflected.
Gratitude amid loss
Mariano expressed appreciation for aspects of their evacuation experience that allowed them to prepare. "I'm grateful that we were able to evacuate from the Palisades Fire in the daytime, when we could feel more prepared & not caught completely off guard in the middle of the night, for example," she stated.Despite losing their physical home and possessions, Mariano emphasized what truly mattered. "My family & I are together, happy, healthy & safe, which is truly all that matters," she wrote. She extended gratitude beyond her immediate family to those affected by and fighting the fires. "We are deeply grateful to all of the heroes who help battle fires, as well as care for everyone affected by the aftermath for years to come," she added.
Timeline of the family's journey
The family's journey toward their growing household began in September 2024, when Mariano announced the pregnancy. She uploaded a photo of herself cradling her growing baby bump while sitting on a paddleboard in the ocean in Hawaii. "Baby on board!" she wrote in the caption of the post, which showed her wearing a bikini and a purple orchid lei.Only weeks before Mariano and Ventimiglia welcomed their first child together, the pair lost their home in Malibu due to the deadly wildfires that scorched thousands of acres throughout Southern California. A few days after the blazes started, Ventimiglia returned to the site of his residence, which no longer stood. The actor visited the remains of the house where he and Jarah had been preparing to raise their baby.

Ventimiglia's emotional response to the loss
Speaking to CBS News about the loss, Ventimiglia became visibly emotional describing how he and his wife watched their home burn down to the ground in security camera footage. Fortunately, he, his wife, and their dog safely evacuated before the destruction occurred. The emotional toll of the loss was evident as Ventimiglia discussed what had been lost in the fire, which included the crib and "everything [that] was set up" for the arrival of their first child together. Despite these devastating circumstances the actor and his wife have moved forward with their growing family welcoming their second child one year later and marking a year of recovery and rebuilding. After being displaced by the natural disaster, ventimiglia and Mariano who have been married since 2023, have now become a family of five.
