Minister outlines government’s budget priorities in Kurnool

Water Resources Department Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu said that the State government is implementing welfare schemes even under tough financial conditions.

Mr. Ramanaidu, who is also the in-charge Minister of Kurnool district, along with Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta, elected representatives and officials, participated in the 2026-27 budget outreach programme held at the Collectorate on Tuesday.

The Minister said that the government is conducting the outreach programmes from March 31 to April 4 across the State to inform the general public about how it is implementing the welfare schemes and development programmes despite being under financial stress.

With regard to Kurnool district, he said the budget allocation was made prioritising Rural Development, Medical and Health, Education, and Public Transport departments. The district is being developed as an industrial hub and many drug and solar power projects are coming to the district. Similarly, the State government is focusing on irrigation projects which were neglected by the previous government.

Mr. Bharath Gupta said the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is aiming to compete with other States in increasing the capital expenditure and the past 20 months of governance saw equal priority being given to welfare and development. He said the works on tomato processing units at Pathikonda are going on.

District Collector A. Siri said the district was allocated ₹2,833 crore in the budget for the 2026-27 financial year and priority was given to improving infrastructure in Medical and Health and School Education departments. She said huge investments were coming to Kurnool district and 38 projects including industries, food processing, tourism, and energy sector would be set up.
