Ministers, leaders, industrialists call on Chief Minister Vijay

The newly inducted Ministers from the Congress, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) called on Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Secretariat in Chennai on Friday.

Minister for Higher Education P. Viswanathan, Minister for Tourism S. Rajesh Kumar, Minister for Social Justice Vanni Arasu, and Minister for Minorities Welfare A.M. Shahjahan met Mr. Vijay at his office.

VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan and general secretaries D. Ravikumar and Sinthanai Selvan also met the Chief Minister and held discussions.

K.M. Mammen, chairman and managing director of MRF Limited; Arun Mammen, vice-chairman and managing director; and Rahul Mammen, managing director, met Mr. Vijay and held discussions on the operations of MRF Limited in Tamil Nadu and the investments being made across the manufacturing and export sectors. They also presented the Chief Minister with a cricket bat.

Jinnah Rafiq Ahmed, chairman of Kothari Industrial Corporation Limited, also met the Chief Minister and discussed the investments being made by the company in the non-leather footwear manufacturing sector.

Ministers who assumed office recently have been reviewing the functioning of their departments. Minister for Natural Resources T.K. Prabhu has ordered an inspection of all stone quarries in the State. Mr. Vanni Arasu signed three files ordering release of funds for various schemes.
