Minor boy sets school bus on fire in Nalanda

Patna: A minor boy allegedly set a private school bus on fire near Kapatiya Mor in Nalanda district on Sunday. The blaze intensified within minutes but was brought under control by fire tenders before it could spread to other vehicles.The bus was completely gutted. However, no other vehicles parked on the school campus were damaged due to the prompt response of fire personnel and local residents. The minor was taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the incident, police said.School representative Rohit Kumar said the institution was closed on Sunday. “I rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident.

Matchsticks were also found lodged in the office gate lock, indicating that someone may have deliberately attempted to carry out the act,” he said.Police examined CCTV footage from the campus, which allegedly showed a minor setting the bus on fire.Nalanda SHO Pramod Kumar said a 14-year-old boy was detained based on the footage. “During initial questioning, it emerged that the minor poured petrol on the bus and set it on fire after being misled by someone,” he said.

Police are questioning the boy to determine whether the act was linked to any past enmity or if a larger conspiracy was involved. A written complaint has been filed by the school administration, and all angles are being investigated, the SHO added.
