Massive Blast In Arad As Missile Hits Residential Area

Iranian ballistic missiles struck Arad in southern Israel, causing multiple casualties and damaging buildings. Videos circulating online showed windows shattering and sections of walls collapsing during the sudden strike.

The attack formed part of a wider barrage that also hit Dimona, with more than 100 people reported injured across the two cities on Saturday.

At least two missiles were not intercepted by air defence systems and hit their targets. Emergency responders said around 100 people were wounded in southern Israel.

In Arad, at least 88 people were injured, including 10 in serious condition. Missiles hit residential areas, tearing through buildings and leaving parts of neighbourhoods in ruins. Around 150 families were evacuated as rescue teams searched through the debris.

Strike on Dimona

Hours before the Arad strike, a missile hit Dimona, injuring more than 30 people. A building suffered a direct hit, creating a large crater and scattering debris.

Among those injured was a 10-year-old boy in serious condition with shrapnel wounds. A 12-year-old boy was also seriously hurt in Dimona, while a 5-year-old girl was injured in the later strike in Arad.

Leaders vow to continue fight

Following the attacks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said Israel would continue fighting its enemies on “all fronts". The strikes come amid the ongoing US-Israeli war with Iran that began on February 28.

Iran claims nuclear site target

Iranian state media said the strikes were aimed at Israel’s nuclear research facility near Dimona. The site, Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center, lies about 10 kilometres from Dimona and 30 kilometres from Arad.

Iran said the attack was in response to an alleged US strike on its Natanz uranium enrichment facility earlier in the day. Tehran blamed both the US and Israel, but the Israeli military denied involvement.

The Dimona facility is widely believed to be central to Israel’s suspected nuclear weapons programme, though the country has neither confirmed nor denied its existence.
