Mizoram to host first ‘Pluck & Pay Fest’ in Khawzawl from Sept 23-25

Aizawl: Mizoram is set to introduce a first-of-its-kind agri-tourism event, the 'Pluck & Pay Festival', scheduled to be held in Khawzawl district from Sept 23 to 25 to promote community-based tourism and create new income opportunities for local farmers and villages. The dates and venues for the festival were finalised at a meeting chaired by tourism minister Lalnghinglova Hmar at his office chamber in MINECO on Monday. The three-day festival will be hosted in Chawngtlai and Tualte villages, with the opening ceremony in Tualte and the closing programme in Chawngtlai.Describing the initiative as a new chapter for Mizoram's tourism sector, Lalnghinglova Hmar said the "Pluck & Pay" concept is new to the state and has the potential to become an exciting addition to its tourism calendar. He said the govt remains committed to promoting community-based tourism in partnership with local communities, adding that the objective of the festival is not for the tourism department to earn revenue but to ensure that the host villages and local residents benefit economically from the event.
