Rebellion spilled out into the open in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party ranks with three time Goshamahal MLA and rebel without a pause T. Raja Singh has sent shock waves in the party by announcing his resignation from primary membership of the party. The legislator expressed his disappointment over the high command choosing former MLC N. Ramchander Rao as the Telangana party president on Monday (June 30, 2025).
In a letter addressed to the party president and Union Minister for Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Mr. Singh said the decision to appoint Mr. Rao has come as a “shock” and disappointment” not just to him but to lakhs of loyal party workers, leaders and voters.
But, the MLA who had earlier expressed his interest in the top post, also said though he stepping away from party, he remains fully committed to the ideology of ‘Hindutva’. “This is a difficult decision but a necessary one and the silence of many should not be mistaken for agreement. I humbly appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and national general secretary B.L. Santosh to reconsider the decision”, he wrote.
“Telangana is ready for BJP but we must choose the right leadership to honour that opportunity and not let it slip away. There are many capable senior leaders, MLAs and MPs who have tirelessly worked for the growth of BJP. They have the strength, credibility and connect to lead the party forward,” he said, in his unprecedented letter.
Mr. Raja Singh has accused that some individuals driven by personal interests had misled the central leadership and took decisions running the show from behind. “This is not about personal ambition, this letter reflects the pain and frustration of lakhs of loyal workers who feel “side-lined” and “unheard”. The party had the best opportunity to come to power in Telangana, but that hope is slowly being replaced by disappointment and frustration “not because of the people, but because of the leadership placed at the helm,” he claimed.
